adipose derived stem cells for treatment of mandibular bone defects: an autologous study in dogs
Authors
abstract
background: the aim of this research was to evaluate the effect of adipose derived stem cells on bone repair in through and through mandibular bone defects of canine. materials and methods: in this prospective comparative study, adipose-derived stem cells were isolated from subcutaneous fat of lateral thoracic area of 4 dogs. the isolated cells were cultured and expanded through 3 passages. the undifferentiated stem cells were seeded in collatamp and transferred into mandibular bone through-and-through defects. similar defects on control group were filled with cell-free collatamp. after 6 weeks, biopsies were taken and histomorphometric analysis was performed. the percentage of new bone formation was measured in each case. the data were subject to statistical analysis using the wilcoxon test. differences at p ≤0.05 were considered significant. results: h and e staining of decalcified samples revealed more bone formation in the group, which stem cells were seeded. cell-free collatamp group revealed an average bone regeneration of %41±13.21, while adipose derived stem cell-seeded collatamp group showed %49±8.24. conclusion: the use of stem cell seeded collatamp scaffold in mandibular defects caused more bone regeneration. key words: bone regeneration, mesenchymal stem cells, scaffold

efficacy of adipose-derived stem cells for regeneration of localized mandibular bone defects
introduction : use of adipose-derived stem cells (adscs) is a suggested hypothesis to enhance the regeneration of bone defects. this technique is of particular interest since adscs are more easily accessible via a non-invasive harvesting technique compared to bone marrow stem cells (bmscs). this study sought to assess the efficacy of adsc implantation for regeneration of localized mandibular bo...

An animal model study for bone repair with encapsulated differentiated osteoblasts from adipose-derived stem cells in alginate
Objective(s): Adipose derived stem cells (ADSCs) can be engineered to express bone specific markers. The aim of this study is to evaluate repairing tibia in animal model with differentiated osteoblasts from autologous ADSCs in alginate scaffold. Materials and Methods: In this study, 6 canine’s ADSCs were encapsulated in alginate and differentiated into osteoblasts. Alkaline phosphatase assay (A...
full textEffects of Human Adipose-derived Stem Cells and Platelet-rich Plasma on Healing Response of Canine Alveolar Surgical Bone Defects
Background: Due to the known disadvantages of autologous bone grafting, tissue engineering approaches have become an attractive method for ridge augmentation in dentistry. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study conducted to evaluate the potential therapeutic capacity of PRP-assisted hADSCs seeded on HA/TCP granules on regenerative healing response of canine alveolar surgical bone...
full textDifferentiation of Adipose-derived Stem Cells into Schwann Cell Phenotype in Comparison with Bone Marrow Stem Cells
Objective(s) Bone marrow is the traditional source of human multipotent mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs), but adipose tissue appears to be an alternative and more readily available source. In this study, rat adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) were induced to differentiate into Schwann-like cells and compared with rat bone marrow stem cells (BMSCs) for their Schwann-like cells differentiation pote...
full textAdipose- Derived Stem Cells as a Tool for Dental Implant Osseointegration: an Experimental Study in the Dog
The biological interaction between the jaw bones and dental implant is fundamental for the long-term success of dental implant placement. Nevertheless, the insufficient bone volume remains a major clinical problem, especially in case of immediate dental implant. Using a canine model, the present study proves the regenerative potential of adipose- derived stem cells (ADSCs) to repair peri-implan...
